Design Story: one
Men’s platinum engagement ring featuring a large natural pearl with diamonds and rubies.
The open design brief was to use a large pearl from his home town of Broome. I wanted to highlight this pearl as much as possible while holding it securely but not with the typical finer claws. The large pearl allowed for a bolder confident look. The ring also needed to be easily taken apart for cleaning of the pearl and ring without damage. I set the large round Broome natural pearl between two hand carved platinum plates. The top plate featuring four peaks holds the pearl against a bottom plate that is hand pierced and set with two hidden round cut rubies with hand carved M and J to the back. Top and bottom plate are held together with four screws, for serviceability. The setting is sitting on a hand carved platinum band with four round brilliant cut diamonds set to the top.

A men’s diamond set platinum engagement ring.
There was an open brief with this ring and I wanted to bring an Art Deco look to the design. There was also a slight inspiration from the shape of a horseshoe, with a solid open ended carved plate holding the diamond and its setting. I set the emerald cut diamond into a double plate claw setting, that is nestled into the hand carved top plate. This then sits over a bottom plate hand pierced with the letters M and J and stylised sun burst. I placed the setting on a platinum band with tapered baguette cut diamonds and baguette cut rubies set into the top of the low domed profile band.
Design Story: THREE
Three sapphire dress ring in I8ct yellow gold
The design brief was to use stones that represented the eye colour of their three children. Three sapphires with a similar eye colour and shade to the children were sourced. They were placed in a design that grouped them neatly together with part of the band sweeping out to meet the marquise cut sapphire. I set the marquise cut Ceylon sapphire, emerald cut parti sapphire and a round cut green sapphire into a unified double plate claw setting. I then placed this setting in a solid 18ct yellow gold carved band with shoulders sweeping out to the marquise sapphire.
